If your RFP is overly specific in regard to deliverables, it won’t tap into any of our knowledge and experience, but rather limit our choices of potential solutions. A too-narrow RFP will lead to both you and we doing a box-checking exercise. RFPs should be problem-driven, not solution driven. If instead of simply saying you want us to do "A, B and C" you ask a question like "How can we best accomplish X?" we’ll be able to give you a creative, non-obvious proposal.
